Campus Movie Fest

Hi:

The star in this movie is my grandson Jeff. He plays Noah. I think he did a good job as a young soldier going off to Viet Nam. This movie is a finalist in the Campus Movie Fest and it is representing Jeff's school, UCLA. Please vote for it by viewing it. Thank you so much!

First Accent Tile

I am posting this just from my camera. I don't take straight photos so the edges are crooked...sorry. You get a preview of what I am doing. There will be five different silohuettes in the center.

I still can't post answers to comments

I am sorry that I haven't been able to post comments on my own blog...Really crazy! I appreciate my followers and hope to get this corrected. I would like to post some accent tile designs that I am doing for a company. Give me a couple of days.

Thanks!

Mini Kaleidoscope Orchid Tree

Here is the latest miniature. It is 2.25" x 3.25". I have a standard size version but this is very different since my paintings are all free hand. I used both transparent and opaque watercolors and a bit of Prismacolor pencil. I am half way done with the miniature Surf Shop and the surfboards in this one have different designs. I don't think that I will be able to enter the Cider Painters show this year because I am so behind. I don't have enough paintings. The "Kaleido-doodle-do" painting is impatiently waiting for me to get back to it.

My Studio

Thought that I would show you a picture of my studio. I am wishing that it looked like this right now. I had to put aside the "Kaleido-doodle-do" painting to work on miniatures for the miniature shows. I have my miniatures in two shows and I am getting more ready for three more shows. They are all back east so they need to be shipped. I have roosters and mats spread all over my studio but I am NOT posting that. Have a great holiday weekend.

A Little More Done On The Painting.

I have managed to get some more finished on this very difficult painting. I got tired of working on the tiny section at the top so now I am working on the larger part. It will go faster now. The top section isn't complete yet. I will work some more on it then go to the miniature paintings that I have to get done for the MASF show. I have the miniatures for the MPSGS show so that is a little bit of a relief. I have to add that this painting is like working on a puzzle. It will be fun to see how it turns out. Even I don't know the answer to that one. Keep checking in to see the progress. Even though there are no comments, the stat system tells me that there are viewers. I appreciate you. Thanks!

WIP Kaleido-doodle-do

This painting has been keeping me very busy. There are around 32 roosters in it. I figured if I am going to title a painting "Kaleido-doodle-do" it had better have alot of roosters. This top section has alot of small images so it took alot of time. I am anxious to get to the larger ones. The medium is watercolor with Prismacolor pencil in some areas. The size is 17.5" x 23.5". I will show you the progress as I go along. If you are interested in seeing more of my work, go to http://www.blueribbonart.com/ or http://www.zibbet.com/ElinorSethman Happy painting!

New Demo Paintings

Hi there!

I just added four demo paintings to my zibbet shop. http://www.zibbet.com/ElinorSethman I will show them to you here. They are priced quite a bit lower than my studio originals because they don't take as long. Take a look. I am still working on my rooster painting and I will show it to you when I get more done on it. I really haven't had that much time lately.

WIP Kaleido-doodle-do

Hi! It has been a while since I have been here. Lately, I have been working on sketching a large painting of roosters. Roosters in a group? Impossible? No, not when my mind thinks it up. Remember, my paintings are pure fantasy and that makes it fun. My friend Janet thought up a great title so I am going to do a painting to match the title. I have other titles from friends too. They are so good with titles. This sketch might look a little messy at the moment but as I paint and change things, I erase all of the pencil lines. I will post as I go along. The image size is 17.5" x 23.5". It will be matted into a 24 x 30 double mat. Stay tuned.
PS I tried to darken it a bit so that the lines will show

Two New Miniatures

Here are two new miniatures that I just completed for the Parklane Gallery Show coming up in May. The rooster's title is "Watchful" and the fruit's title is "Bountiful". They each measure 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". They are painted with watercolor and a little bit of Prismacolor pencil.

The Rooster is done

Actually, it has been done for a while but I have been busy with other things. The painting hasn't been scanned yet. Once it is scanned, the lines won't be bowed. The next two paintings will be miniatures for the two miniature shows coming up. They are the Seaside show and the Parklane Gallery show. They will both be on-line. I really like that because you can see the complete show and you can see what sells.
It might snow here tomorrow. That is really rare. I have covered my Pony tail palm and we will cover other plants tomorrow. We have alot of tropical plants. If it snows, you can be sure that I will be out in it with my American Eskimo Frosty. He has his winter coat (very thick) and I am excited to see what he does.

My Granddaughter Ashleigh's drawings

I just added two of Ashleigh's drawings to my Zibbet shop. She has been selling her dog drawings lately. She is busy now working and going to college so I told her that I would help her out. I am so happy that she is following in my footsteps. Here are two of her drawings. "Lisa" and "Westie".

Coming Along.

I painted on this yesterday while everyone else was watching the Super Bowl. The fruit at the bottom will be persimmons. I was afraid that it would look too much like my Sweet Persimmons painting but it doesn't. I don't have a bowl in this and the rooster is different. I sold the sweet Persimmons right away so maybe this one will be grabbed up too. I put some Prismacolor pencil over the watercolor in a few places to punch up the color. It works! The size is 17.5" x 23.5".It will be placed in a 24 x 30 mat.
A water pipe broke in our house today and flooded our guestroom and our water heater went out so today hasn't been a good day. Amazing how you miss running water when you don't have it. I brought in some ice cold water from the pool to soak the dishes. Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon.

A Little More Done On The Rooster

Hi:
I didn't get to paint today because I was trying to print some giclees on my old dieing R1800 Epsom printer. I have used that printer so much and now it is telling me it is tired. It won't take my new heavier paper. Arches quit making  the paper that I was using. I have a feeling that a new printer will be in my future.

I wanted to show you the progress that I have made on the rooster. I don't have the luxury of painting every day so it is going slow. I love painting my kooky roosters. I make up alot as I go along. They are statues not real roosters.

Well, here it is. Oh oh, it looks too dark. Sorry.

A Little More Done On The Kaleidoscope

Hi:

I have been busy doing other things that aren't as fun as painting so forgive me if I am not keeping up with the blog. I am more finished with this now but this is how far I was a few days ago. I will spend all weekend painting on it. I hope to get alot done. I get distracted very easily. I know that the photo is bowed but I don't know how to fix it. When it is scanned, it won't be bowed.

What I Did Today On The Painting

For some reason. The image of what I did today didn't show up on the last post so I will post it here.

More Done On Rooster Kaleidoscope

I got to work on the Rooster today. I also did a little bit on Sunday. This painting and my other new paintings will be earth tones. I am trying to stay away from my beloved blue backgrounds. Funny because I don't have any blues in my house but I hang these up on my walls and they look good. I don't paint to match furniture but alot of people buy that way. I wonder how many I will sel

l with the earthy backgrounds? This measures 17.5" x 23.5". It will be matted in a 24" x 30" double mat. It is a mixed media...watercolor with some Prismacolor pencil to add a little punch to the colors.

Started sketching

I did a quick sketch today. I lay out everything on the paper before I fracture it. I don't want a line going right through the rooster's face. My sketch is completely free hand and I won't look at it again until tomorrow. I will also hold it up against a mirror. That is the best way to see if there are any flaws in the sketch. It is an old tried and true technique that I really believe in. I hope that the lines are dark enough to see. I can't make them too dark because I don't want them permanant.
