A Little More Done On The Painting.

I have managed to get some more finished on this very difficult painting. I got tired of working on the tiny section at the top so now I am working on the larger part. It will go faster now. The top section isn't complete yet. I will work some more on it then go to the miniature paintings that I have to get done for the MASF show. I have the miniatures for the MPSGS show so that is a little bit of a relief. I have to add that this painting is like working on a puzzle. It will be fun to see how it turns out. Even I don't know the answer to that one. Keep checking in to see the progress. Even though there are no comments, the stat system tells me that there are viewers. I appreciate you. Thanks!

WIP Kaleido-doodle-do

This painting has been keeping me very busy. There are around 32 roosters in it. I figured if I am going to title a painting "Kaleido-doodle-do" it had better have alot of roosters. This top section has alot of small images so it took alot of time. I am anxious to get to the larger ones. The medium is watercolor with Prismacolor pencil in some areas. The size is 17.5" x 23.5". I will show you the progress as I go along. If you are interested in seeing more of my work, go to http://www.blueribbonart.com/ or http://www.zibbet.com/ElinorSethman Happy painting!

WIP Kaleido-doodle-do

Hi! It has been a while since I have been here. Lately, I have been working on sketching a large painting of roosters. Roosters in a group? Impossible? No, not when my mind thinks it up. Remember, my paintings are pure fantasy and that makes it fun. My friend Janet thought up a great title so I am going to do a painting to match the title. I have other titles from friends too. They are so good with titles. This sketch might look a little messy at the moment but as I paint and change things, I erase all of the pencil lines. I will post as I go along. The image size is 17.5" x 23.5". It will be matted into a 24 x 30 double mat. Stay tuned.
PS I tried to darken it a bit so that the lines will show

What I Did Today On The Painting

For some reason. The image of what I did today didn't show up on the last post so I will post it here.

More Done On Rooster Kaleidoscope

I got to work on the Rooster today. I also did a little bit on Sunday. This painting and my other new paintings will be earth tones. I am trying to stay away from my beloved blue backgrounds. Funny because I don't have any blues in my house but I hang these up on my walls and they look good. I don't paint to match furniture but alot of people buy that way. I wonder how many I will sel

l with the earthy backgrounds? This measures 17.5" x 23.5". It will be matted in a 24" x 30" double mat. It is a mixed media...watercolor with some Prismacolor pencil to add a little punch to the colors.

Started sketching

I did a quick sketch today. I lay out everything on the paper before I fracture it. I don't want a line going right through the rooster's face. My sketch is completely free hand and I won't look at it again until tomorrow. I will also hold it up against a mirror. That is the best way to see if there are any flaws in the sketch. It is an old tried and true technique that I really believe in. I hope that the lines are dark enough to see. I can't make them too dark because I don't want them permanant.

This will be my new painting

Hi. Just checking in. Christmas is almost here and I am ready for it. I am getting anxious to start my new painting. It will be a standard size painting and a kaleidoscope. I never trace or use a projector so the painting will be alot different than the photo. I only use photos as reference. This photo is what I will be working from. I am going to change the direction of the light too.
