Hi everyone. I am going to try to keep up a new blog. I am not much at writing (just talking) ha ha. I will try to keep you updated on what I will be doing. At the moment, my thoughts are with the miniature shows. I will try to post the miniatures as I do them. I will need some followers. Anyone interested?
Here are two that I started at my Art-A-Fair show this summer in Laguna Beach. I had never tried to do them at the show before but I found out that they attract alot of attention. I guess that I will do miniatures there more often. Here are the two that I started. The first stage of the miniatures looks impressionistic as I lay the colors on. These photos show the step after that though. I will try to get photos sooner next time.
I forgot to add that these are not the finished product. When they are finished, I will post them. The pictures were taken outside in the shade with no flash so they look a little blue.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie...glad to see you join our blogisphere finally. Just post more regularily than I seem to do. I usually paint a "postable" piece at least once a week (sometimes it's in a WIP format), but I do try to get one in as often as possible. Hope to see lots of good stuff here very soon.
ReplyDeleteBy the way...you've got a wonderful way with greens found in landscapes and I think that is one reason I don't enjoy painting them...so...keep it up.
Hi Mollie. Gee, it is so good to see you here. I see that janie signed up too. Thanks to both of you. I forgot to add that these paintings are 2.5"x3.5". About the greens, I always mix my greens with other colors or make up my own greens. There are always alot of different colors in the trees. BTW landscapes have always been a love of mine so that is why I try to have landscapes in my entries to the shows. These will go into the MASF show in Florida. The next painting will be an African themed kaleidoscope painting. It will be a little larger, about 3"x4".
ReplyDeleteBesides attracting attention...you get a painting completed instead of just sitting around. I did a show a few weeks ago and was so glad I had taken work with me. I finished one piece and started another. I'm going to do that from now on.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie... enjoy blogging
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth, Diane, Nita, Ann and, of course, Scott. I am so pleased that you joined me in this new venture. I keep forgetting to add more information. These paintings are done on Arches 140# hot pressed paper. The smoother surface is better for miniatures. You can achieve more detail on the smooth surface. Someday I will try Ivorine. The paintings done on Ivorine are so rich looking and beautiful. After my son scans the paintings, I will post them with the frames. Frames are important in the miniature shows. They even go through a seperate judging.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blogger world, Ellie! I hope you will enjoy the process.
