A Little More Done On The Kaleidoscope

Hi:

I have been busy doing other things that aren't as fun as painting so forgive me if I am not keeping up with the blog. I am more finished with this now but this is how far I was a few days ago. I will spend all weekend painting on it. I hope to get alot done. I get distracted very easily. I know that the photo is bowed but I don't know how to fix it. When it is scanned, it won't be bowed.

What I Did Today On The Painting

For some reason. The image of what I did today didn't show up on the last post so I will post it here.

More Done On Rooster Kaleidoscope

I got to work on the Rooster today. I also did a little bit on Sunday. This painting and my other new paintings will be earth tones. I am trying to stay away from my beloved blue backgrounds. Funny because I don't have any blues in my house but I hang these up on my walls and they look good. I don't paint to match furniture but alot of people buy that way. I wonder how many I will sel

l with the earthy backgrounds? This measures 17.5" x 23.5". It will be matted in a 24" x 30" double mat. It is a mixed media...watercolor with some Prismacolor pencil to add a little punch to the colors.

Started sketching

I did a quick sketch today. I lay out everything on the paper before I fracture it. I don't want a line going right through the rooster's face. My sketch is completely free hand and I won't look at it again until tomorrow. I will also hold it up against a mirror. That is the best way to see if there are any flaws in the sketch. It is an old tried and true technique that I really believe in. I hope that the lines are dark enough to see. I can't make them too dark because I don't want them permanant.
